Update 10/17/2011: Alliance of Young Nurse Leaders & Advocates, Int’l (AYNLA) posted in it’s Facebook status that 2nd batch of RN Heals “is now starting to accept applications for a year of hospital duty starting this year. Please apply directly to DOH Hospitals’ Nursing Service Department. Also priority will be given to those who have been doing “volunteer” service to hospitals beforehand. Thank you.” That means no more online application, just go directly to DOH Hospitals (list) around the country and apply.

President Noynoy Aquino is set to announce the hiring of additional 12,000 nurses, midwives and doctors for RN Heals program of Department of Health(DOH), Secretary Enrique Ona said in Nueva Ecija Friday.

Registered Nurses for Health Enhancement and Local Service or RN HEALS, which employs nurses in the poor communities, seeks to make essential health services available to all Filipinos identified by the DOH in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and Department of Labor (DOLE).

The program is in collaboration between the national government and local government units (LGUs) aimed to address the shortage of skilled and experienced nurses in 1,221 rural and unserved or underserved communities for one year.

“Ihaha-hire po natin sila para makatulong na mapabuti pa ang atin pong mga ospital, mga clinics, at saka mga rural health units. Para po mabigyan ng sapat na tulong at serbisyo yung ating mga kababayang may sakit,” Ona said in a message in Cabiao during the 115th commemoration of the uprising in Nueva Ecija.

Moreover, Ona also said that starting this September, the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (Philhealth) would carry out the case-rate system, which is part of the reforms in the insurance system to give more Filipinos access to healthcare.

DOH RN Heals program deployed 10,000 nurses to different rural areas and poor communities early this year.

  19. WHY ISN’T THE GOVERNMENT HIRING NURSES FOR GOVERNMENT HOSPITALS/ HEALTH CENTERS, ETC.?

    THERE’S 101 MILLION FILIPINOS NOW. THE ALLEGED “NURSE SURPLUS” IS NOT ENOUGH TO FILL THE NURSE SHORTAGE THAT IS BADLY NEEDED IN THE PHILIPPINES.

    THIS RN HEALS IS BULLSHIT. THIS IS NOT A REAL JOB FOR RNs. THIS IS BAND-AID ALA PAKITANG-TAO SOLUTION.

    THE DOH ALLOWS PRIVATE HOSPITALS TO SHORT STAFF IN DANGEROUS LEVELS!

  37. Sir/ Ma’am pls send me an update abt. the RN Heals program. Isa po ako sa trainees na di natuloy dahil sa memorandum ng DOH. sana po ito na ang makakatulong sa aming mga newly RN para magkaroon ng experience dahil wala po talaga kaming experience.

May balak ba ang government natin na ituloy itong program na to….kasi ang tgal na….dapat bago mag issue sila sa news dapat na plan na ito ng maayos hindi libo2ng mga tao ang umaasa..tapos meron pa tayong palakasan and backer system kung la kanang backer..la kang pag asang mahirid….nu bang klaseng government tayo meron…

  61. nagupdate napo bah ang Rn HEALs 2 sana po maupdate po kailangan napo talaga nang experience kasi last year pa po akong walang work sana naman po i-update nila..at sana po dagdagn nila ang list ng doh hospitals kasi konti lang po tapos dami po ng nurses.. update me po sa email address ko jennycamedalla@yahoo.com salamat po

    Greetings! I would like to express my interest in the RN Heals
    project. I have been a nurse trainee at Quirino Memorial Medical Center in Proj 4, Q.C for 1 year and two months ( 2 months in Medicine ward, 11 months in Medicine ICU and a month in Surgery Ward). My daughter has been a nurse trainee in the same hospital for almost a year (2 months in Pedia ward, 6 months in Pedia ICU a month in OB Ward). Hoping we both qualify having served for quite a long time. How do we apply?

  69. All government hospitals are part of the DOH right? So we are allowed to apply even in PGH? Because I have a plan to apply there.

    2. No. Not just because it is a government hospital, it’s already under DOH. Not all government hospitals are under DOH. UP-PGH is under UP System, Veterans Memorial Medical Center is under DND (Dept. of National Defense). V.Luna and PNP General Hosp. are under AFP and PNP, respectively. Ospital ng Maynila, Ospital ng Sampaloc and Ospital ng Sta. Ana are under the City of Manila. So don’t just assume everything and do your research.

  70. good day! sir/ma’am im glory domingo of zambales… i just want to know if meron na pong update sa doh rnheals unfortunately ngaun ko lng po kasi nlaman na hiring n pla ang another batch… if ever na pumunta po kasi ako ng hospital and then tapos na pala nakakadepressed nmn po… ang mga nurses palaban, we continue to staggle, alam nyo nmn n po ang situation namin… sana [po maupdate nyo kmi, e2 po email ko glorydomingo@yahoo.com,any update will be appreciated po salamat po ng madami…

  75. wala kwenta ang rn heals for people age 35 yrs old and above(second coursers) as they have an age requirement for RN heals raw…discrimination only in the Philippine setting talaga.

Hay nako npaka UNFAIR ng 2nd batch na RNheals…Kc naman tinatago ng mga DOH hospitals ung quota nila for applicants,at the very deadline na nla ilalabas sa news….syempre uunahin nla ung mga Volunters nla na nagbayad na ng Training fee sa knila….Wlang Pag asa Tlaga ang Pinas…Kahit DOH napopolitika….

  79. bkit ganito ang nangyari sa 2nd batch kukunti lng ung may opurtunity na mkapasok sa rnheals… kala q p nman this rn heals program is to deploy nurses in poor areas.. eh nangyayari ngaun only doh acredited hospital lng tas ung slots na available s not more than a hundred.eh marami ng jobless na nghihintay sa program na2.nkakadepressd tlaga….

  85. pumunta me ng fabella 2 wks ago at sabe nov 28 – dec 2 cla magtatanagap ng application nung pumunta ako kanina close na daw kawawa tuloy yon mga co nurses ko na umasa sbe ng personel doh daw ang may kasalanan dahil pabago bago ng memo. bakit ganun ang gulo sayang sa pera effort and time …. i hope our government especially doh think right program na equal no backer needed. thanks
